Each month, I almost have a hard time writing these because every month is so wonderful, I can't think of new ways to describe the love I have for you. But also because each month is such a blur - hah!
You've grown so much in month five, and not just size. You're becoming such an independent little girl who is curious and inquisitive. You like to be part of the action, and don't like it when I lay you on your play-mat and leave the room (i.e. to finally go to the restroom after holding it for far too long). Your jumparoo is also one of your new favorite toys. You love to chew on the butterfly and look at the hanging animals.
Even though the pediatrician gave us the go-ahead for food, I want to do baby-led weaning, starting you on solids and skipping the baby food. To do so, you need to be able to sit-up unassisted and show an interest in our food. Most people see this at six months, so we'll just wait until you're ready.
You're sleeping has been pretty consistent, but you did go through a random rough period that had me Googling schedules and sleep regressions. You woke up a couple more times during the night which left me way more tired - going back to that newborn stage is no joke! Unfortunately, your dad and I like there to be a reason for things to happen, but whether it was a growth spurt or the sleep regression I read about, it didn't last too long. You're definitely teaching us to be more "go-with-the-flow" :) But just so I remember, you still wake anytime between 6:45am and 8:30am (I prefer the latter), take a couple naps during the day (usually a longer morning one and either one long or two short afternoon ones), and are ready to start your bedtime routine by 7:00pm or so.
A couple new things this month: You're sleeping in Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit and it makes the world of difference! I think that's what's helping you be so consistent at night. You can still self-soothe and suck on your hands, but you don't startle yourself. You also recognize us! You know I'm your mom and know when I'm not holding you. And, secretly, I love it :) Your last new thing is that you can official roll over - both ways! Rolling over tummy to back was pretty easy; you just tilted your head and the rest of you followed. But rolling from back to tummy took patience, time, and some momentum to get over that right arm. Unfortunately, you still don't like being on your tummy, so then you just get upset after you roll over. You haven't quite learned that's the end result.
You survived another roadtrip to Dallas, proved (yet, again) that you're great at dining out, and have captured even more hearts. As you grow, so does our love for you, even though I don't know how it could possibly get any bigger <3
xoxo,
Your Mom
