Take me back!

We finally got our newborn pictures back and sent out birth announcements. I couldn't love a picture more and had the hardest time choosing which ones to include <3 Kennedy is so little and precious, it makes me realize how much things have changed. She was only 12 days old, barely 6lbs, and had wrinkles from loose skin - not fat. Take me back to the beginning because I already want to do it all over again!

Kennedy Anne {2 Months}

Baby Kennedy,

You're two months already! A lot has happened in these four quick weeks, and I'm just trying to make sure I soak up every little bit of it.

I forget how small you are until I take you out in public and people comment on your size. I usually let them know you were four weeks early, and that helps them realize why. You're also officially the size of your dad at birth - eek! I cannot imagine if you were this size at birth. I loved snuggling my itty bitty baby so much <3

Since cutting out dairy, your gas has improved significantly. You no longer have the leg-kicking pain nor have I been tempted to give you gas drops. And the no dairy thing really hasn't been a big issue. I just tell places I have a dairy allergy when eating out, and luckily Austin has a lot of options for vegans, so I just look extra crunchy.

You still love to eat, which is to be expected since you're just now reaching 11 pounds. Some stretches go a little longer, four hours or so, but we're getting up at night pretty regularly. I haven't tried too hard to get you on a schedule because it's only month two and I feel like it's a little too early. Your pediatrician told me to just keep feeding you when you're hungry, so I do!

I like to do something each day outside of the house, whether it be breakfast or lunch with a friend or walking somewhere. I like to think the latter is my form of exercise now. I've been cleared to workout, but I don't really have the energy or desire to do much :) But we walk both in the neighborhood and on trails in the area, and you seem to really like it. You don't ever fuss when we're walking; you're either looking around (because you can now see!) or you fall right to sleep.

One thing we are SO thankful for is we just found out that you do not have VLCAD, a fatty chain oxidation disease. Your newborn screen tested positive, so we did further tests when you were just one week old. Those came back with further indications that you did, in fact, have the disease, so we did a genetic test. The results took about four weeks to come in. The whole time, your dad and I were so worried, especially him. He constantly feared you weren't eating enough or sleeping too much, and didn't want you going outside of the house too much so you wouldn't get sick. But we were absolutely elated when your doctor called with the results - you did not have the disease! You are a carrier, so that's why you were testing positive. But we didn't need to worry anymore because you are a healthy baby girl :)

You're the greatest challenge and blessing all at the same time, and I wouldn't have my life be any other way - loads of sleep or no sleep ;) We love you!

xoxo,
Your Mom

Baby's First Easter

This past weekend was Kennedy's first Easter, and it was a weekend full of family and love. Nelson's mom and sister both came to town early Friday afternoon, and then we went to my mom's for dinner just as Lindsay and the boys were getting in. Per usual, it was a crazy evening. But Jackson wrapped a gift for Kennedy, a super cute monogrammed bow! The Christmas ornaments were a nice touch, don't you think?

Saturday morning, the whole gang - plus my dad and Patty - met at First OHUMC for their annual Easter Festival. There are some little games for the kids to play plus an Easter egg hunt. Jackson was so nice to share some of the stickers in his eggs (notice it's not the candy) with Kennedy :)

That afternoon, there was a huge Easter celebration at my mom's. Since everyone was needing to head back early in the afternoon on actual Easter Sunday, we decided to do all of the festivities the day before. Audrey and Liz came, and Brenda, Travis, Dani, and the kids were there, too. I know it's very different now with many loved ones gone and new ones added, but it felt a lot like holidays when I was a kid. Everyone talked and laughed and ate well into the night.

Sunday morning, we all dressed up and Kennedy went to her first Easter service. We decided to join my mom at her church so she could show her off. And that was really fun :) She also wore her new bow! We sat in the back row since we had three little ones four and under, just in case we needed to sneak out. But everyone did great and little noise was made by all!

Of course we took the obligatory pictures in front of the beautiful cross at the front of the church ;)

How do you pick the best one???

Luckily Lindsay knows her pictures of perfect family photos is pretty much over.

But she was able to get her fix with Kennedy!

I also had to take some pictures of Kennedy in her Easter basket from the grandmothers. Unfortunately, she wasn't a fan (and I tried multiple times). Most looked like the first picture, so you'll just have to imagine what she would look like if that lamb pacifier wasn't in her mouth ;)

And just because I think this is hilarious looking, I kept Lindsay entertained on her drive home by sending her pictures of my face swapped with her's, Ben's, and Jackson's (Dean's didn't work). I used one of Nelson's Snapchat filters and we could not stop laughing.
