Summertime Shenanigans

Lindsay and the boys came back down to Austin to spend some time before their Sunday School annual beach trip. Again, this boy is so obsessed and I cannot wait until she can play right back :)

Four month shots were no joke compared to two month shots.

I also met Meagan's new baby, Donald Stanley Dillard, Jr. He's absolutely precious and adorable and gives you those new baby snuggles :) I'm so happy for Meagan and Donny and am excited for us to go through this journey of parenthood together!

While unpacking and going through boxes, I found one of my old dolls. It's kind of fun to compare my old baby with my new one - they're nothing alike hah!

And just to keep all the #outfitoftheday pictures in one place :)

Kennedy Anne {4 Months}

Dearest Kennedy,

It's crazy to think you're four months old, and even crazier to think that's 1/3 of the way to one year - eek! Everybody says time needs to slow down and I'm all for coming up with a machine that makes that happen. Month four has been a wonderful one, just as great as all the others, and I'm so blessed to experience it with you.

Not only did you take your first trip to Houston, you also attended your first wedding, rolled over (from tummy to back - but too quickly for me to get it on video!), moved houses, and started sleeping in your own room! It's been very busy to say the least! But you are also very busy. You're long and lean (as apparent by your stats below). Your pediatrician asked if you were active, and we said that you kick your legs and wave your arms alllllllll the time. She mentioned you're clearly burning a lot of calories doing so!

You're still just the most easy-going baby. Aunt Lindsay laughs when I make comments about things being harder to do with a baby because it's true; I can't just do everything when I want and for how long I want (i.e. pack). But you're mostly content hanging out on your Very Hungry Caterpillar play-mat and only fuss when you're tired or hungry. I guess most people don't have it that easy :)

Your "rhythm" has become a little more routine and I'm starting to see a schedule form, but we're still very go-with-the-flow. You usually wake up around 7:00 or 7:30am, still in the best mood. You'll take a morning nap and then afternoons are either one really good nap or a couple smaller ones. It really depends what we're doing and if we're out and about. I think you like to go to bed around 8:00pm because that tends to be when you're ready most, and you still love that middle of the night / early morning snack.

Everybody loves you, Kennedy: family, our friends, and even complete strangers. You're such a sweet baby and light up our lives. It's hard to image what we did before you were in it!

We love you!

xoxo,
Your Mom

{4 Month Stats}

  • Weight: 13lb, 5oz - 31st percentile
  • Height: 25in - 74th percentile
  • Head: 42cm - 87th percentile
  • Clothes: a few 3 months, but 6 month clothes are fitting your length better
  • Diapers: size 2!
  • Shoes: still size 0 or 1 (although your Easter shoes no longer fit - womp womp)
  • Likes: looking at and sucking on your hands, laying down to play, being held upright so you can see what's going on, your pacifier (this is new, which I'm ok with since it's not your thumb), putting your burp cloth or Julie (doll lovey that Jackson named) in your mouth
  • Dislikes: being held like a baby, putting pajamas on

Build A House: Check

IT'S FINALLY DONE! We closed on our house on Friday, June 9, after pushing the close date several weeks due to things that needed to be addressed. I'm so excited to finally be in our home. Don't get me wrong, it was nice and very convenient to be at Grandma's, and the little sitting room off the master turned out to be the best thing for a newborn. But after having most of our stuff in boxes for a year and trying to cook on a two-burner electric stove, I was ready to be done with it.

Kennedy was super excited about closing day, as you can tell.

And Kristen came to hold her while Nelson and I signed our bank account away.

It's our's! Doesn't Nelson look thrilled? ;)

Home <3

And just so I always remember what the house was like when we first moved in, here's a fun little tour I did :)

We had several things done before moving in, including sealing the grout and having internet and security installed. After everyone was done, I needed to vacuum so we had clean floors. Kennedy helped (i.e. took a nap in the carrier) and made it a super sweaty job.

But there's nothing as satisfying as this!

Moving day finally came after a week of stressing and packing. The movers had us out of Grandma's house in two hours and in our new home in one hour. My organization skills do come in handy ;)

Cheri surprised us with a welcome sign, too. It's so exciting to finally be done with the building process and able to call this house our "home". I can't wait to start making some memories in it with my family!

Happy 100 Days, Kennedy!

A Chinese tradition that Nelson's parents told us about is celebrating when the baby turns four weeks old. It's a celebration for both the mom and baby, that the baby is doing well and mom has mostly recovered. Friends and family are invited to a little party to meet the baby, especially since both mom and baby don't go out of the house before then. Since we were unsure of Kennedy's VLCAD status when she was four weeks, we didn't want to risk anything by taking her out and getting her in front of a lot of people (that would probably want to hold and kiss on her), so we bumped it to the goal of surviving 100 days :)

We decided to have a small gathering of just family, and since I'm dairy and soy-free (ugh), Chinese food isn't really an option. But the kitchen at Pao's Mandarin House burned, so they were closed anyways. Instead we got the private room at Jack Allen's Kitchen and they were very accommodating to my annoying diet.

Nelson's parents, sister, and her boyfriend came from Houston, my dad and Patty came from League City, and Lindsay and the boys came from Dallas. Audrey and Liz came to celebrate, too, and Allison and Bino were able to come last minute.

They were very excited to see Kennedy ;)

Me and my precious baby girl!

Lots of snuggling the guest of honor :)

It was also Nelson's dad's birthday! He had a cake made at a Chinese bakery and has decided that he'll just do the writing himself next time... ha!

Lindsay got Kennedy super cute sunglasses and an adorable outfit. She's obviously a really good model....

"Grandma loves me" - clearly!

As does Opa :)

And Jackson! He simply adores Kennedy and it's the best thing ever.

And we can't forget about Dean! He's just as obsessed with the "bebe" :)

Nelson's mom ordered Kennedy some traditional Chinese clothes and this headband with hair on it was amazing. Poor girl looks so confused, though, hahaha.

I had to spend most of Monday at the new house (more to come later) as people were installing / doing various things, so Kennedy hung out at my mom's with Lindsay and the boys. It was definitely a full house!

It was such a busy weekend, but full of all of our favorite people and so much love for our baby girl. We were so happy to have everyone in town to celebrate our Kennedy and feel so blessed that she has such a wonderful family in her life.

Like father like daughter, amiright?
