Happy 100 Days, Kennedy!

A Chinese tradition that Nelson's parents told us about is celebrating when the baby turns four weeks old. It's a celebration for both the mom and baby, that the baby is doing well and mom has mostly recovered. Friends and family are invited to a little party to meet the baby, especially since both mom and baby don't go out of the house before then. Since we were unsure of Kennedy's VLCAD status when she was four weeks, we didn't want to risk anything by taking her out and getting her in front of a lot of people (that would probably want to hold and kiss on her), so we bumped it to the goal of surviving 100 days :)

We decided to have a small gathering of just family, and since I'm dairy and soy-free (ugh), Chinese food isn't really an option. But the kitchen at Pao's Mandarin House burned, so they were closed anyways. Instead we got the private room at Jack Allen's Kitchen and they were very accommodating to my annoying diet.

Nelson's parents, sister, and her boyfriend came from Houston, my dad and Patty came from League City, and Lindsay and the boys came from Dallas. Audrey and Liz came to celebrate, too, and Allison and Bino were able to come last minute.

They were very excited to see Kennedy ;)

Me and my precious baby girl!

Lots of snuggling the guest of honor :)

It was also Nelson's dad's birthday! He had a cake made at a Chinese bakery and has decided that he'll just do the writing himself next time... ha!

Lindsay got Kennedy super cute sunglasses and an adorable outfit. She's obviously a really good model....

"Grandma loves me" - clearly!

As does Opa :)

And Jackson! He simply adores Kennedy and it's the best thing ever.

And we can't forget about Dean! He's just as obsessed with the "bebe" :)

Nelson's mom ordered Kennedy some traditional Chinese clothes and this headband with hair on it was amazing. Poor girl looks so confused, though, hahaha.

I had to spend most of Monday at the new house (more to come later) as people were installing / doing various things, so Kennedy hung out at my mom's with Lindsay and the boys. It was definitely a full house!

It was such a busy weekend, but full of all of our favorite people and so much love for our baby girl. We were so happy to have everyone in town to celebrate our Kennedy and feel so blessed that she has such a wonderful family in her life.

Like father like daughter, amiright?
